Judith Ann “Judy” Thompson

November 29, 1946 — June 21, 2022

Judith Ann “Judy” (Anderson) Thompson, 75, of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Judy was born on November 29, 1946, in Forest City, Iowa, to Rueben and Thona (Halvorson) Anderson. They moved to Lake Park, MN, in 1959 when she was 13. She attended and graduated from Lake Park High School in 1965. She met Robert Thompson while working for his sister at a café. They were united in marriage in 1965 in Audubon, MN. Judy began her career as a Secretary for the Detroit Lakes School District where she worked for 29 years before retiring. She kept busy during the summers working various jobs, such as cleaning cabins, painting, and taking care of her children. After her retirement, she began a decorative painting business with her daughter, Tammy, working together for six years. She continued painting part time shortly after.

Judy lived her faith and devoted her life to spreading Christian values. She was very active in her church and The Refuge, volunteering her services by painting, decorating, designing, and gardening. She loved gardening, repurposing furniture, entertaining her family and friends, baking with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. So loved to go to garage sales and collecting items during city wide cleanups with anyone willing to go with her and she was quite the professional haggler.

Judy is survived by her husband, Robert Thompson; children, Tammy (Chris) Harstad and Michael (Lisa) Thompson; grandchildren, Kristina (Tyson) Snyder, Aaron (Tina) Harstad, Michaela Flippin, Sierra Thompson, Jarrett Thompson, Shianne Stull, and Gabrielle Thompson; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Bailey, Maddison, Cecelia, Carson, and one on the way; siblings, Bonna (Ivars) Krafts and Twyla Wentworth; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Thona; and siblings, Rachael, Howard, Rowene, Richard, Helen, and Norma.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., followed by the prayer service at 6:00 P.M., Friday, June 24, 2022, at Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church, Detroit Lakes, MN. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. at the church.
