June V.
Brantner
June 10, 1937 – March 5, 2026
June Vaughn de Lee Brantner, 88, of Fargo, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, March 5, at Touchmark.
June was born in rural Felton, Minnesota, to John and Jessie Warner. From an early age she showed a love for art. In high school she began developing her talent by illustrating for the school newspaper. She briefly attended Concordia College in Moorhead before transferring to the Minneapolis School of Art and Design to further pursue her passion.
While in high school, June met the love of her life, Jerry. The two shared a remarkable life together and were married for 68 years. Throughout their years together, they built a loving home and family and created countless memories. Many summers were spent with family at their lake cabin in Canada. Later in life June and Jerry enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, where some of their close friends also wintered and where they formed many cherished friendships.
June became well known for her remarkable portraits, beautiful watercolors, and intriguing mixed-media paintings. She was a founding member of Gallery 4 in downtown Fargo and exhibited her work in galleries in Arizona as well as in shows throughout the United States. Her love of art remained a constant and meaningful part of her life.
In addition to her artistic accomplishments, June was a loving and devoted mother of five children. She selflessly dedicated herself to her husband and family, who adored her. Her warmth, creativity, and caring spirit touched everyone who knew her.
June was preceded in death by her parents, John and Jessie Warner; her sister, Gloria Sharpe; her brother, David Warner; her son, Jonathan (Renee) Brantner; and her grandson, Decker Waldera.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 68 years, Jerry; her sister, Carol Essen; her children, Jamesina (Malcolm) McLeod, Jennifer (Michael) Waldera, Jerilynn (Jonathan) Brantner Adams, and Jason (Kerri) Brantner; her daughter-in-law, Renee Brantner; her grandchildren, Wade (Erin) McLeod; Megan (Joshua) Gustafson; Dillon (Elli) Waldera; Dodge Waldera; Lily Brantner; Christian (Kayla) Adams; Jackson Adams; Charles (Christina) Brantner; and Benjamin Brantner; and her great-grandchildren, Gavin, Cooper, Quinn, Beckham, Lincoln, and Leira McLeod; Carter, Hunter, Colter, and Molly Gustafson; and Roman Adams.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service with livestream at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, South Campus in Fargo. A luncheon will follow the service. Internment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Fargo.
The family is profoundly grateful for the exceptional care June received at Touchmark from the dedicated nurses, caregivers, and staff, whose kindness and compassion made such a difference in her life. They also deeply appreciate the caring support of the many providers from Griswold Home Health and Hospice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in June’s honor to HIA Hospice of Fargo.
A livestream of the service along with an online guestbook and video tribute will be available here on June's page.
