June Darlene Mcdonald

June 13, 1927 — April 1, 2022

June Darlene (Davidson) McDonald, 94, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2022, surrounded by her loving family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

June was born on June 13, 1927, the only child, to Walter and Clara (Cleveland) Davidson in Ada, MN. She grew up in Ada where she graduated from Ada High School. She worked a civil service job in Crookston, MN, for two and a half years. During that time, she met Jack McDonald and they were united in marriage on February 19, 1949, in Ada. They moved to the Fargo Moorhead area where they raised their four children. While June was actively involved in her children’s lives, she worked for the Moorhead Post Office as a rural mail carrier for over thirty years before her retirement in 1995. The customers on her route remained engrained in her life to this day due to her dedication to her work. She continued to serve as a delegate for Rural Letter Carriers National Convention long after her retirement.

June was very involved with St. Frances De Sales Catholic Church by serving with the Christian Mothers, as a Eucharistic Minister, and service on the Parish Council. She joined the Red River Valley Concert Veterans Band in 2004 and continued playing the alto saxophone into February 2022. She nourished her friendships through the church card club, playing Bingo, and meeting regularly with her coffee gals. June was overflowing with positivity and could make friends everywhere she went, and everyone had something nice to say about her.

June is survived by her three children, Greg (Karen) McDonald, Brad McDonald, and Lisa McDonald; grandchildren, Matthew (April) McDonald, Ruth (Steve) Lott, Kathryn (Evan) Price, Craig Stuck, Peter (Miriam) McDonald, and Kerianne (Justin) Wright; great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Madison, Kaedan, Joel, Tallulah, Sailor, and Elise; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Jack; parents, Walter and Clara; and daughter, Melinda.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the prayer service at 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 8, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
