Karen Elsie (Spande) Omberg, 80, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at the Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND.
Karen was born on January 23, 1942, to Raymond and Elsie (Dvorak) Spande. She grew up in Hopkins, MN, where she attended and graduated from Hopkins High School. She stayed in the Hopkins area until she met Ross Omberg, where he worked at a gas station near the cities. They were united in marriage on March 15, 1959, in Glencoe, MN. They moved South of Hawley in 1968 where they built their home and resided in ever since. She waited tables at the Norseman for a few years before taking care of her home and keeping books for Ross and their business, Ross-Ko Construction in Hawley.
Karen enjoyed travelling with Ross in their motor home, visiting places all over the country. She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, and feeding the song birds.
Karen is survived by her children, Dean (Diane) Omberg, Tim Omberg, Lance Omberg, and Shannon (Bobbie Jo) Omberg; grandchildren, Dillon (Paige) Omberg, Benjamin Omberg, Blake Omberg, Indy (Laurel Verdick) Omberg, Brendon Sanders, Mickenzie (Zak) Bergstrom, Logan Omberg, Emily Omberg, Arianna Omberg, Ashton Omberg, Arizona Omberg, Eden Omberg, and Ayden Omberg; great-grandchildren, Piper and Dekker Bergstrom; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ross; parents, Ray and Elsie; stepfather, Adolf Bartels; and brother, Eugene Spande.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.
