Kari A. Mclean

Kari McLean, age 52, of Kindred, North Dakota, died on September 14, 2013, in a car accident in Clay County. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and mother to her family.
Kari Ann Brakke was born on October 19, 1960, in Fargo, ND, to Gordon and Shirley Zentgraff Brakke. She grew up and attended school at Comstock, Minnesota and graduated from Barnesville High School. She then attended North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND, where she received her nursing degree.
Kari worked at Dakota Clinic in Fargo before moving to Colorado and then to Sun Valley, Idaho. She returned to the Fargo-Moorhead area and continued her career in nursing.
Kari was an incredible person and loved spending time with her grandson Carter. She also loved to travel, camp, fish and ride with her fiancé Geoff on his Harley. With her easy going manner and warm caring heart, she was a true friend to all. Her compassion was matched only by her contagious spirit for family, friendship and fun. Kari had the ability to make friends wherever she went and she believed in everyone’s potential, especially her many nephews and nieces. She also had a special place in her heart for all animals and relished relaxing on her porch with her two dogs and her cat Frankie. Her beautiful smile and caring manner will be missed by all whose lives she touched.
Kari is survived by her mother, Shirley Brakke, Fargo; brothers Keith Bev Brakke, Moorhead and Robert Brakke, Comstock, MN; sisters Kristin Kevin Bakko, Moorhead, and Kim Don Hovden, Fargo. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews, Lindsay Adam Hollman, Ryan Emily Bakko, Kelsey Bakko, Jason Brakke, Kayla Michael Brakke, and Brent Hovden; She is also survived by the love of her life and fiance Geoff Hopewell and felt blessed to share in the lives of his children Jamie Nolan Bartnick, Andrew Hopewell, Levi Hopewell, and her cherished grandson Carter.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon Brakke.
Visitation: Wednesday, September 18, 2013, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Funeral: Thursday, September 19, 2013, at 11:00 A.M., in Comstock Lutheran Church, Comstock, MN.
Interment: Comstock Lutheran Cemetery.
