Kay J. Overby

Kay June (Mehl) Overby, 72, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Sunday August 28th surrounded by her loving family.

Kay was born in Moorhead, MN on January 18, 1950, to George and June (stitz) Mehl. She grew up and attended school in Moorhead. On October 21, 1967, she married Gary Overby. After living in Colorado and Washington they eventually made their way back to Moorhead where they raised their three children.

Kay enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and gardening. She was an amazing cook and baker. Most Sundays the family would gather at her house for a home cooked meal. She was best known for her chicken dumpling soup and homemade breads.

Kay is survived by her daughters, Shelly (Mike) Boettcher, Tisha (Eric) Felland; son, Benjamin (Brittany) Overby; grandchildren, Zakk, Brandon, Bella and Danica; great-grandson, Silas; brothers, Tim (Sylvia) Mehl, Paul (Mary) Mehl; and sister, Becky (Eric) Nelson.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gary; parents, George and June Mehl; sisters, Carol Kossick, Georgia Sorenson; and brother, Pete Mehl.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Kay’s honor may be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 1, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 2, at 12:00 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.

Interment will be at Fargo National Cemetery
