Kenneth Elwood Conrad Jr.

Kenneth Elwood Conrad, Jr., 83, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, in his home in Moorhead.

Kenneth was born on June 6, 1938, to Kenneth, Sr. and Mary (Magnuson) Conrad in St. Paul, MN. He attended school in Mound, MN, before moving with his family to Moorhead, MN, where he graduated from Moorhead High School in 1956. After high school, Kenneth joined the United States military, serving for the Navy. While in the Navy, Kenneth married his high school sweetheart, Helene Hagen, on April 23, 1958, in Moorhead, MN. They would move to Davenport, ND, where they raised their four children. After serving with the Navy for four years, Kenneth joined the Air National Guard as a member of Fargo’s Happy Hooligans and worked as an Air Operation Specialist until his retirement in 1990.

Kenneth enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting with his boys, and loved to golf. He especially enjoyed lake life at his lake cabin on Marion Lake, also known as his happy place. He also enjoyed wintering in Arizona with Helene. Kenneth was a private individual who had an unconditional love for his family.

Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Helene; children, Russell (Patricia) Conrad, Richard (Stacy) Conrad, Roger (Jennifer) Conrad, and KayLynn (Myron) Peterson; grandchildren, Justin (Priscilla) Conrad, Sara (Brad) Slocum, Benjamin Conrad, and Hannah Conrad; great-grandchildren, Owen and Jack Slocum; brother, Charles (Betty) Conrad, lifetime friend, Dale Ness; and many other loving relatives and friends. He his preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Sr. and Mary and his infant sister.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Monday, October 18, 2021, at Triumph Lutheran Brethren Church, East Campus, Moorhead, MN. A livestream of the service will be available on his webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com where a guestbook may also be found. Final resting place will be at Fargo National Cemetery, Harwood, ND.
