Kenneth Lee Hendrickson

Kenneth L. “Kenny” Hendrickson passed away at the age of 80 in his home, in Fargo, ND, under the care of Ethos Hospice.

Kenneth was born on November 30, 1942, in Seattle, WA, to Leland and Genevieve (Roen) Hendrickson, their only child. Kenneth attended school in Comstock, MN, and graduated from Barnesville High School in Barnesville, MN. Upon graduating from high school, Kenneth attended North Dakota State College of Science for auto repair and served in the Army Reserves, stationed in Colorado. On August 26, 1969, Kenneth was united in marriage to Karen (Hirschkorn). They have 3 children, Shannon, Jason, and Rebecca.

Kenneth operated a vehicle and small engine repair shop next to their home in Comstock, MN, and ran a school bus route for Barnesville, MN, School district. He was known as the most strict bus driver in the district. Upon retirement, Kenneth kept active with lots of mowing, helping out working on old cars and his own 1955 Chevrolet BelAir. He also continued to enjoy attending the races whenever he could. Kenneth gained a group of friends through the Fort Ransom Sodbusters Association helping to get the Roen Sawmill going at Fort Ransom State Park in Fort Ransom, ND. After retirement, Kenneth and Karen moved from Comstock, MN, to Fargo, ND.

It has been said that Kenneth made an impact on the kids that rode his bus in many different ways, from family and friends that he was witty, could fix anything, had a wealth of knowledge about many things and a one of a kind man. To his kids and grandkids, he was their superhero and always seen as invincible.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Karen, Fargo, ND; children, Shannon, West Fargo, ND, Jason, Moorhead, MN, and Rebecca, Comstock, MN; grandchildren, KC, West Fargo, ND, AJ, Blaine, MN, and Brock, Fargo, ND; many nieces, nephews, and cousins near and far.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Leland and Genevieve Hendrickson.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
