Kent Roger Sylvander, 64, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Kent was born September 12, 1961, in Fargo, ND, to Dale and Carol (Swenson) Sylvander. He grew up attending Assembly of God Churches in Moorhead and Fargo. Kent was a member of the Moorhead Spuds Class of 1979 and attended Minnesota State University Moorhead in the diesel program. He finished a business degree later in life at Moorhead State. Kent worked for various companies in his life, taking pride in holding production records at Bobcat.

Kent was known as a quiet person, until you got to know him. He had a great passion for reading, making conversations with Kent interesting. Kent’s knowledge in many topics (history, mechanics, fishing, hunting, guns, car, pickups and motorcycles) was driven by reading. Whether you needed a guy to anchor your wrestling line up or tug of war team, or pull down sixty cut trees, Kent could fill the role.

Some of Kent’s best memories were our annual hunting trips with the Swenson family. Fishing also provided many great memories. We made it to Quetico Provincial park and spent many days at Minnesota lakes enjoying the outdoors.

Kent was a good brother and will be deeply missed.

Kent is survived by his brothers, Steven Sylvander and Bruce Sylvander; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Sylvander; nephew, Joshua Murphy; niece, Chelsea Murphy; uncle, Dale Swenson; aunts, Lavonne Austad, Geri Swenson, Janice Booen, and many cousins.

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Carol Sylvander; uncles, Harlen Anderson, Donald Austad, Richard Booen and Bob Purdy, and aunts, Marie Anderson and Eileen Purdy.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 17, 2026, at Moorhead Memorial Gardens.

Memorials will go to River Valley Church in Dilworth, MN.
