Kim Donnell LaDuke of Moorhead passed away at his lake home in Perham on June 22, 2026, at the age of 74.

Kim was born on July 24, 1951, in Fargo, North Dakota, to E.B. and Kay (Kleinschmidt) LaDuke. He graduated from Moorhead High School in 1969 and began his career as a Teamster with Red Owl. It was during those early years that he met the love of his life, Peggy Krause, who was working as a cashier at a local truck stop.

Kim and Peggy were married in 1974 and built a life together in Moorhead, where they raised their two sons, Brian and Tony. In 1980, they purchased a lake home in Perham, creating a place filled with family memories and cherished traditions. The lake remained a special retreat throughout Kim’s life, especially following Peggy’s passing in 2003.

Due to the closure of Red Owl, Kim returned to school and earned a degree in civil engineering. He completed his career with Wayne’s Transport retiring in 2016.

Retirement allowed Kim to spend more time at the lake he loved, nurture lifelong friendships, and relax in his role as a grandfather. He enjoyed sharing conversations over a cold beer, testing his luck with pull tabs, tapping his toes to classic country music, and reminiscing about treasured memories that always included Peggy.

Kim will be remembered for his kind spirit, generosity, and the many memories he created with those he loved.

Kim is survived by his siblings, Wynona (Dick), and Kathy (Jerry); brother-in-law, Craig (Denise); children, Brian, and Tony (Hannah); grandchildren, Brianna (Tanner), Quincey, and Kayanna; and great-grandchildren, Kendall and Kinsley.

Kim is preceded in death by his soulmate and wife, Peggy; parents; in-laws, Joan and Jeff; and brother, Kenny (Jann).

A celebration of Kim's life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Followed by a gathering with family and friends at Legend’s Sports Bar and Grill at 5:00 pm.

Final resting place will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
