Lauri J. Sandry

December 15, 1958 — January 4, 2021

Lauri (Mitchell) Sandry, 62, of Audubon, MN, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2021, after a very brief battle with cancer.

Lauri was born on December 15, 1958, to Allen and Joyce Mitchell in Benson, MN. Her family lived in a few southern MN towns and settled in Moorhead, MN, in 1969. Lauri graduated from Moorhead Senior High in 1977 and from Moorhead Area Vocational and Technical Institute in 1979 with a diploma in computer programming.

Lauri began her career with American Crystal Sugar in 1980.  She was a very dedicated employee with over 40 years of service.  She had been looking forward to retiring soon and spending many hours at her home on Lake Maud.

Lauri married Bert Sandry in 1983 and they later divorced.

Lauri enjoyed her lake home, playing cards and games (she was a Scrabble and Boggle fanatic), reading, baking (her Christmas cookie trays were filled with love), watching the MN Vikings, celebrating the 4th of July at the lake with the boat parade, traveling, and spending time with her family. Her travels included Hawaii, an Alaskan cruise, a clipper ship cruise, and the Mediterranean.   She was always happy when spending time with her nieces and nephews and their little ones.

Lauri is survived by her brothers and sisters, Rod (Carol) Mitchell, Detroit Lakes, MN, Julie (Joe) Bradley, Leavenworth, KS, Nancy Lund, Moorhead, MN, Cindy (Butch) Markey, Moorhead, MN, and Gordy (Brenda) Mitchell, Moorhead, MN;  nieces and nephews, Nicole Mitchell, Brian (Jessica) Vieths, Tim Lund (Mary Claire Galloway), Erika (Steve) Peterson, Holly (Andy) Reinert, Jeff Markey (Amy Svensk), Steve (Ami) Markey, Scott Mitchell, and Garrett Mitchell;  great-nieces and nephews, Ganon Markey, Sienna and Silas Reinert, Emi and Mika Vieths, Sam Mitchell, and Harrison Lund.

Lauri was preceded in death by her parents and great-nephew, Alister Lund.

A family celebration of Lauri’s life will take place at a later date. Memorials may be sent in Lauri’s name to the American Cancer Society.
