Leonard W. Jeral

Leonard W. Jeral, 73 of Hawley, MN passed away on Monday, May 15, 2023, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Leonard Wayne Jeral was born on May 16, 1949, in Fargo, ND to Leonard O. and Elsie Jeral. He grew up in Hawley and graduated from Hawley High School. 

After high school Leonard joined the Marine Corp and served in Vietnam, working his way up to Sergeant. He had his daughter Shauna with first wife Marsha.  Leonard became a police officer in Blythe, CA and Kingman, AZ.  Later, Leonard married Alma Valentine and they made their home in Hawley. They had son Leonard Jeral Jr.  Leonard moved to Arizona in 1988 to pursue his career as a golf professional. A year later his family joined him and they lived in Mesa, AZ until Alma passed away in 2004. He then relocated to Tonto Basin where he made his home enjoying fishing and off roading with friends.

Leonard is survived by his son, Leonard (Patricia) Jeral Jr. “JR”; daughter, Shauna (Luis) Zunino; step-daughter, Lanae Butler; grandchildren, Kyle, Lyndsi, Haley, Jacob, Patrick, Adam, Breanna, Kaylee, Leonard William, Lauren; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Tim Jeral.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard O. and Elsie; wife, Alma; and his sister Ann Schultz

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at 6:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at Lysne Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN.
