LeRoy Eugene Lakeman, 80 of Moorhead, MN passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Farmstead Living, Moorhead, MN.

LeRoy was born on February 13, 1946, in Moorhead, MN to Nicholas “Nick” and Emma (Horn) Lakeman. He grew up on the family farm near Felton, MN and was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church in Georgetown, MN. LeRoy attended elementary school in Felton and graduated from Felton High School in 1964. He went on to attend North Dakota State School of Science and received his degree in Electrical Technology in 1967.

On September 27, 1969, LeRoy married Linda Schlueter at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, MN. LeRoy completed a three-year apprenticeship and training program for electricians in 1972 with the Dakotas Area Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee and received his Journeyman Electrician’s License after completion of the program. From 1969-1981 he was employed first by Onan Generators and later Fritz Electric until accepting a position with American Crystal Sugar where he worked until his retirement in 2011.

LeRoy was a member of the North Dakota Air National Guard 119th Fighter Squadron “Happy Hooligans” from 1964-1988 where he received The Meritorious Service Medal and The Air Force Achievement Medal. He also served on the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church council as Trustee and on the Felton Community Club.

LeRoy rarely strayed too far from home. He was happy “putzing” around doing yardwork or working on various projects in the garage. He was most generous with his time and was up for whatever Linda or the grandkids wanted to do.

LeRoy is survived by his children, Brenda (Tim) Illg, Glyndon, MN and Ryan (Kelli) Lakeman, Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Shawn, and Lauren; brother, Kenneth (Judy) Lakeman, and sister, Vi Rheinhardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda; siblings, Richard Lakeman and Darlene (John) Tratebas.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 11 a.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Final resting place will be in Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to HIA Hospice, Fargo, ND.
