Lloyd Orville Olson, 97, of Lake Park, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at Hawley Senior Living, Hawley, MN under the care of hospice.

Lloyd was born on July 19, 1928, in Detroit Lakes, MN to Oscar and Alice (Erickson) Olson. He spent his entire life on the farm he was raised on. Lloyd married Marion Knutson, the love of his life, on November 30, 1951. They lived with Oscar and Alice until 1953 when Oscar built the house in town. They raised five kids in that house while farming the land he loved. His second love was tinkering on cars. He would buy a car and work on it until it ran the way it should, probably with a lot of mentoring from his father-in-law Obert Knutson. His Sunday drives usually consisted of at least one drive through a used car lot.

Lloyd served on the elevator board, the township board, and the bank board. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lake Park and the El Zagel Shriners. Lloyd was willing to help anyone who needed a hand.

Lloyd is survived by his children, Diane Freeman, LuAnn (Tim Reitan) Wiedeman, Sharon (Parry Jacobson) Kohler, and Richard Olson; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and his very special nieces.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion; parents; infant brother, Richard Lewis; and son, Larry.

Lloyd will be deeply missed by his family, but we’re grateful the Lord let us have him for 97 years.

Visitation: Thursday, April 30, 2026, from 5-7 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

Funeral with Livestream: Friday, May 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour before the service at Eksjo Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
