Lois Maureen (Peterson) Johnson was born on August 26th,1941 in Hallock Minnesota to Martha (Hostrup) and David Peterson.
She graduated from Hallock high school in 1959. After graduation she moved to Minneapolis to work at the Star Tribune and later, United Artists. Lois married Earl Johnson at Grace Lutheran Church, in Hallock, MN on February 13th, 1965.
In September of 1965 the family moved to Moorhead. She worked as a secretary at Moorhead State University in the Athletic Department. Lois went back to school to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education, graduating in 1980. Lois taught Special Education at Hawley Public Schools for 20 years and retired in 2001.
Lois was a dedicated member of Bethesda Lutheran Church and maintained the library for many years. She had a magnificent garden in every house that she lived in, always a mix of flowers and vegetables that thrived because of her dedication and care. She also enjoyed watching hockey, golfing, all shades of purple, and all things Swedish. Lois was a member of the Swedish Cultural Heritage Society, the Red River Danes and helped for many years with the Family History Workshop.
Lois passed away on May 14th surrounded by family at Eventide in Moorhead.
Lois is survived by her loving husband Earl Johnson; her daughter Kristin (Marty) Ohren, Moorhead, MN; her grandson Matthew Ohren, Moorhead, MN; and her granddaughter Rev. Katie (Rev. Blake) Ohren-Shipman, Fertile, MN. She is also survived by sisters Phyllis Schulte, Fargo, ND; Helen Weiss, South Abington Township, PA; and Nancy (Dan) Lundberg, Kennedy, MN; her sister in-law Sue Johnson, Woodbury, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Martha and David Peterson; her brothers-in-law George Schulte, Gene Weiss, Darrell Johnson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Leroy and Phyllis Sletten; and niece and Goddaughter, Amy Lundberg Wigand.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, from 10:00 - 11:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM, in Bethesda Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
