Loren A. Garrison

Loren A. Garrison, 88, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, January 25, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Loren was born on July 15, 1932, to Cleo and Marguerite (Braton) Garrison. He grew up and attended school in Barnesville, MN. Following high school, Loren served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1954. He then continued his education where he became a Licensed Electrician and later an Engineer. Loren returned to the area and on October 10, 1956, married Valentina “Tina” Nosal at Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville. Together they made their home and Loren worked as Chief Engineer at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead. Over the years, he also obtained his Boilers License and served as an instructor in Heating and Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Safety Management at Moorhead Tech.  Loren eventually enjoyed working at the Moorhead Post Office and retired after 20 years. Through the years, Loren enjoyed his horses, staying active with many different sports, and especially spending time with his family.

Loren also remained active in the community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Moorhead VFW, was past President of the Clay County Safety Council and the Moorhead Rod and Gun Club and was a member of the Lions Club.

Loren is survived by his wife, Tina; children, Tom (Joy) Garrison, Stacy (William) Feist, Laurel (David) Garland; grandchildren, Abigail Feist and Nicholas Vigeen; step-grandchildren, Ryan (Cindy) Jongejeugd, Chris (Katy) Jongejeugd, Nicole (Bret) Lovro; and sisters, Shirleen Thorton and Valerie Witte.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Garrison; brothers-in-law, Maurice Thorton and Robert Witte. And recently his niece, Gina Small.

Visitation: Monday, February 1, from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., with prayer service at 6:30 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, February 2, at 11:00 a.m., in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN. Family and friends not able to attend may view the Funeral Mass via live stream at through the link at the top of this page.

Interment: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Barnesville, MN.
