Lorraine Oget Nelson

Lorraine Oget (Boland) Nelson, 90, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Farmstead Care, Moorhead, MN.

Lorraine was born on October 27, 1932, to Harry and Inga (Thompson) Boland in Lisbon, ND. She grew up in Moorhead where she attended school until the eighth grade. She worked as a waitress at the Blue Bird Café in Moorhead. She met her future husband, Raymond Nelson, and they were united in marriage on December 5, 1953. After their marriage, Lorraine worked as a photography clerk at Grosz Studio in Moorhead for over 20 years. She then started her own in-home daycare, serving Moorhead families until her retirement around 1998. She enjoyed her retirement with Raymond at their lake home on Lake Eunice.

Lorraine enjoyed working with children and getting to know their parents. She loved the occasional game of bingo and watching hummingbirds. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Lorraine is survived by her loving husband, Raymond Nelson; children, Susan (Terry) Hoffmann, Allen Nelson, and Sharon Deavy; grandchildren, Christopher Hoffmann, Matthew (Sara) Hoffmann, Brooke (Josh) Vickerman, Abbie (Pete) Boyle, Trisha (Gary) Page, Jason (Crystal) Nelson, Dylan Deavy and Austin Deavy; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings, Minnie Malkmus, Barbara (Alton) Olson, and Lyle Boland; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Inga; and siblings, Alvin, Harry “Red”, and Leroy Boland.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., followed by the Celebration of Life at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, January 12, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
