Lorraine "Lolly" Postel

September 29, 1933 — April 17, 2025

Dilworth, MN

Lorraine "Lolly" Postel, 91, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Eventide in Fargo.

Born in DL, MN to Mabel and Alvin Melland. Grew up in Hawley/Lake Park area. Graduated from Lake Park in 1952. Worked at the Hawley Café. Later she moved to Grand Forks, ND. In 1968, when her brother passed away, she went to Washington state to help her sister-in-law watch their 2 small boys. In 1970 she was blessed with her one and only child, a daughter, Jodi, who was the light of her life. In 1971, she moved to Walla Walla, WA where she met her husband, Richard Postel in 1976. They wed May 9, 1977 and moved to Mercer, ND where Richard was from. After Richard's passing in 1998, Lolly moved to Fargo to be closer to Jodi and the family.

She loved Jesus and one of the most important things was to share his love with everyone around her. She traveled with her daughter and family to many places for ministry, often sharing her testimony or helping watch the children or manning the information table. She led many prayer teams, and a faithful giver to many different ministries. She was generous, often to a fault, many times giving her last or almost last dollar to help someone else in need. She would say, " It isn't much but I prayed an assignment of multiplied blessing on it." If someone was needing a car, or a touch from God...she'd pray that as the assignment. Usually, within a week or so, that need would be met. Once, a couple got a good car after they had lost theirs in an accident. Another, went to the Passion of Christ and the husband got saved and a new, better job within a week. This is the legacy she left.

It's going to be a very different world. She's been my rock my whole life. She's taught me to love people even if they don't love me back. She modeled generosity and grace like no one else. Always trust the Lord, she'd say. She prayed for 747 size angels all the time. My guess is they will be the ones escorting her to the gates of heaven. She would pray for me every day before school, "Lord give her swiftness of hands, and feet, and mind." She prayed for Blair Stuart Hill before she ever knew he existed. I will miss her so much!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Mabel (Jacobson) Melland, Husband Richard Postel, One brother Arden Melland, and one nephew Eric Melland

She is survived by Daughter Jodi (Blair) Hill, 2 Grandchildren Caleb Hill and Miriam Hill, 1 sister Marlys (Maurice – deceased) Erickson, 4 Brothers Clifton (Darlene) Melland, Ronald (Bonnie – deceased) Melland, Jerry (Darlene) Melland, and Lyle (Velda) Melland, and many nieces and nephews.
