Lyla G. Evert

Lyla G. Evert, age 92, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, April 18, 2011, in Ecumen Evergreens, Moorhead, MN, with her family by her side under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.Lyla G. Skjaret was born on June 20, 1918 to Reidar and Inga Leebeck Skjaret in Moorhead, MN. She grew up and attended school in Rustad and later Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1936. On June 29, 1939 she married Fritz Evert in Sabin, MN. Together they had two children, Fay and Marlys. Fritz died on February 3, 1971. Shortly thereafter, Lyla moved from the family farm in rural Comstock to Moorhead. After Fritz's death, Lyla worked at Flowers Unlimited for a few years before working as a clerk at Moorhead Drug until her retirement at the age of 80. Lyla's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the apple of her eye. In her eyes, they could do no wrong. Lyla will be missed dearly by her family and friends.She is survived by two daughters, Fay Kenneth Schellack of Glyndon, MN and Marlys Jerome Ernst of Greenwood, SC; four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, Carmen Kyle Leach and their children, Jordan, Andrew and Anneliese, Jeff Amy Ernst and their children Kayla and Zachary, Gary Penny Schellack and their children, Madison, Megan, Macey and Maleah and Randy Schellack and his children, Kendra and Adam.She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Jalmer, Ralph and Grant Skjaret and two sisters, Julie Carney and Mildred Jacobson.
