Margaret “Maggie” Metcalf

Margaret “Maggie” Metcalf, 68, Lake Park, MN, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.
Maggie was born on June 29, 1948 in Moorhead, MN, to Banker M. and Mary Louise Gilbery Metcalf. She grew up and attended school in Glyndon, MN, graduating from Glyndon High School in 1966. She then attended Moorhead Vocational School and graduated in 1967. She worked at American State Bank from 1967 until 1989. She attended Moorhead Technical School for Electronics and graduated in 1991. She worked for Microsoft from 1991 through 2000 and then went to work for Wennsoft, retiring in 2007. In 2004, she moved to Middle Cormorant Lake south of Lake Park, MN.
Maggie was a member of the Glyndon Congregational Church. She enjoyed bowling, softball and volleyball and following the Twins and the Vikings. She had recently been recognized for her service to the Middle Cormorant Lake Association where she had served as President, Secretary, Treasurer and Director multiple terms over the past 24 years. She also enjoyed geneology, studying the Gilbery and Metcalf families. She was happy to have fulfilled a life –long dream of visiting the British Islands in 2011.
Maggie is survived by her best friend and caregiver, Ila Lindstrom, Lake Park, MN; brothers Lewis Barbara Metcalf, Caldwell, Idaho, and Ronald Judy Metcalf, Fargo, ND; sister-in-law Kathy Metcalf, Glyndon, MN; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers James and Roger; and a sister-in-law Donna Metcalf.
Visitation: Sunday, August 28, 2016, from 5-7 P.M., with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home Hawley, Hawley, MN.
Funeral: Monday, August 29, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, Moorhead, MN.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN
