Margie D. Westlund

Margie Westlund passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Aug 7, 2025 at Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN. She was 89.

Marjorie Deloris Crabtree was born June 22, 1936 to Merle and Violet Crabtree in Pequot Lakes, MN. She moved around the upper midwest with her family until they settled near Cormorant, MN. She graduated from Lake Park High School in 1954. She then worked at the Deaconess Hospital in Minneapolis, and Bell Telephone in Fargo, ND.

She married Marvin Westlund on Sept 22, 1957. They made their home south of Lake Park where they farmed and ran Westlund Fence Builders for many years. Together they had 3 daughters. They were married 62 years with Marvin passing away in 2020.

Margie had a strong faith in God. She was a member of Park Lutheran Church where she was active in Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School. For years she was the "corn lady" for the Park dinner stand at WMSTR. Throughout her life she worked several places including Northwestern Bell Telephone, Bec-lin Foods, CCRI and Sunnyside Nursing home.

Margie was a positive person whose sweet nature always showed through. She loved shopping, planting flowers and gardening. She enjoyed yardwork, even raking, and her home always looked beautiful. Spending time with her grandchildren was very important to her and she never missed a holiday or birthday with them. She will be dearly missed.

Margie is survived by her daughters Debbie (Glenn) Anderson, Lori (John) Buhaug and Barb Harrison (Tim Harrison). Nine grandchildren: Chris Anderson, Will (Kali) Anderson, Scott Anderson, Glenn Anderson Jr., all rural Hawley, MN: Karly Buhaug (TJ Houle)Hawley, MN, Kristynn (Brady) Doran, Pine River, MN, Griffin Harrison, Fargo ND, Sam Harrison, Fargo, ND, and Turner Harrison (Grace Friesen), Detroit Lakes, MN; two great grandchildren, Warren and Vivian Anderson, Hawley, MN; a sister, Marilyn Leitheiser, and brother, Ron (Bonnie) Crabtree, Detroit Lakes, MN, and sisters-in -law Janet Crabtree, Hawley MN, Phyllis Sagen, Lake Park, MN, and Arlette Westlund, Detroit Lakes, MN, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; brothers, Lonnie Crabtree and Vern Crabtree; brothers- in-law Duane Westlund,Tom West, Tom Leitheiser, Richard Westlund, James Keeping, Merle Sagan and Don Syvertson; Sisters-in-law Dorothy Crabtree, Arvilla West, Ardis Syvertson, Penny Westlund and Delores Evenson.

Visitation will be held at noon on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 followed by a memorial service at 1pm at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

Interment will follow at Park Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, MN.

When they retired, Marvin and Margie discovered their true passion: mowing the lawn. They maintained their yard day and night.

We are sure Mom and Dad now enjoy doing the same in their new heavenly home.
