Marie Tweten

October 21, 1930 — November 8, 2023

Marie B. Tweten, 93, of Glyndon, MN, passed away on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Serenity Assisted Living in Dilworth, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.  She was surrounded by her loving family.

Marie was born October 21, 1930, in Ellsworth, WI, to Albert and Ruth (Carter) Christensen.  She attended school and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1950.  Following graduation, Marie married the love of her life, Roy, on January 19, 1951, and together they made their home and started their family on the farm in Glyndon.

Marie was deeply devoted to her family and friends, who meant the world to her.  She will be remembered for her infectious smile, unwavering faith, the way she treated others, her “gift of gab,” and the love she had for her family.  She was an incredibly warm person, giving the best (long, strong) hugs, volunteering at church and supporting her grandchildren in all their events, never missing a chance to attend any of their activities.  In her 71+ years of marriage to Roy, she enjoyed driving across the country visiting with many relatives and friends as his modern-day GPS (using pre-printed AAA paper maps), spending winters on snowmobile trips and time in Arizona, and many summers with family and friends camping at Strawberry Lake.

After putting her family first, Marie had many other interests and activities including sewing, exercising, cooking, baking, bowling, and serving and hosting others.  She spent many hours sewing, including altering anything for anyone and embroidering dish towel sets as gifts.  Exercise was a daily routine for her, even up to the last month of her life. Marie’s love was also felt through her homemade cooking.  Favorites included lefse, pies, banana bread, cookies, and homemade pizza on  Sundays.  No one left her house hungry.

Marie is survived by her son, Wayne (Kelly) Tweten of Glyndon, MN; daughter, Lori (Jeff) Devier of Dilworth, MN & North Port, FL; son-in-law, Robert Knutson of Dilworth, MN; grandchildren, Sheri (Jim) Koch, Trent (Stacey) Knutson, Trisha (Rick) Keller, Carol (Greg) Wallsworth, Lindsey (LeeAnn) Tweten, Ally (fiancé Connor Bowen) Devier and Graci Devier; great grandchildren, Brittney (John) Wychor, Brandon (Leah) Herbst, Benjamin Herbst, Ashley Knutson and Bryce (Marissa) Knutson, Micah Wallsworth and Izabella Tweten; great-great grandchildren, Elliot, Jackson and Henry Wychor, Taylan and Aiden Pixler, Kehlani Auerbach-Herbst, Mason Herbst and Kaia Herbst; sister-in-law, Betty Christensen; sister-in-law, Jean Tweten; and many other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy; her daughter, Kathy Knutson; parents, Albert and Ruth Christensen; brother, Gene Christensen; and sister, Lorraine Olson.
