Marilyn L. Anderson, 78, of Lake Park, MN passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Sanford Health - Broadway, Fargo, ND.
Marilyn Lee Murfin was born to Alfred and Ruth (Crawford) Murfin on April 30, 1945, in Cincinnati, OH. She grew up in St. Paul, MN and moved to Lake Park, MN graduating from Lake Park High School in 1963. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in education from Moorhead State University.
On July 21, 1966, Marilyn married her high school sweetheart, Arlyn Anderson, and for every one of the 58+ Valentine’s Days together, she baked him a cherry pie. Marilyn worked for the Lake Park Journal while also filling in as a substitute teacher in Lake Park and Audubon. She researched and wrote the Lake Park history book, Erickson family history book, as well as several local newsletters.
Marilyn enjoyed traveling, which included several winters in the Phoenix, AZ area. She spent many summers riding motorcycles and winters riding snowmobiles with Arlyn. She was an excellent cook and baker and loved being in the garden. Every fall her shelves would be fully stocked with the vegetables she canned. Marilyn also served on the Lake Park School Board and was extremely active in Houglum Lutheran Church, serving on the church council and cemetery board for many years.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Arlyn; daughter, Lonna (Duane) Musolf; son, Ken (Kim) Anderson; grandchildren, Megan and Wyatt Musolf; brother, Walter (Diane) Murfin; sister-in-law, Rita Nelson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A private family service will be held. Final resting place will be in Houglum Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Park, MN.
