Marilyn J. Barone

Marilyn J. Barone, age 87, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at River Pointe of Moorhead, under the care of Sanford Hospice.

Marilyn Joy Banks was born on January 24, 1934 in Hurdsfield, ND to Fredrick and Thelma (Heald) Banks. Marilyn attended school at Hurdsfield before moving to Fargo, ND where she worked as a waitress at Dutch Maid. While working at Dutch Maid, she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Barone and they were married on October 6, 1956 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo. In 1957, their son Steven was born and Marilyn took on the role as homemaker and stayed home to raise him. She kept herself busy being active in the St. Joseph’s Circle, spending time with friends, and doing various crafts including knitting, sewing, and crocheting. Her biggest joy in life were her grandchildren and she loved watching them grow up and attending all their activities. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Steve (Sheri) Barone; grandchildren, Adam (Lana) Barone and Sara (Kristian Lien) Barone; brother, Harley Banks; and many nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Barone; and brothers, Delfred (Helen) Banks, Loren “Bud” Banks, and Norman (Nancy) Banks.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 2:00 P.M., with a visitation starting one hour before, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Burial will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
