Marleen Ann (Siegel) Olson, 70, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2022, in her home on Little Cormorant Lake, Audubon, MN, surrounded by her family and under the care of Hospice.
Marleen was born on February 25, 1952, in St Ansgar hospital, Moorhead, MN, the 3rd of 6 children in William and Beatrice Siegel’s family. She grew up on several farms in the Hawley, MN, area where she attended school, graduating in 1970. On July 10, 1971, she married Owen “Pete” Olson at St Francis church in Lake Park. They lived in the Rollag area for a short time and in 1972, moved to the Ulen area. In 1987, they moved to the Hawley area and in 2002, moved to their present home on Little Cormorant Lake.
Marleen and Pete were blessed with 4 children, Heidi, Peter, John, and Paul, 17 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy. She was active in the church doing teaching and later service music. Her faith was a source of comfort to all. Marleen worked with special needs children in the Hawley Schools for 24 years retiring in 2013, then opening a booth at the local antique store. She loved sewing and quilting as well as crafts and especially being with her family.
She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Pete; daughter, Heidi (Bruce) Brokate; sons, Peter Olson, John (Bobbi) Olson, Paul (Tabby) Olson; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Charles Siegel, Gary (Bobbi) Siegel, Joanne (Ron) Sauvageau, Tim (Cindy) Siegel, and Helen (Pete) Montplaisir; and many other loving relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Hawley, MN. Burial will be at Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN, following the service.
