Marlene L. Larson, 89, of Moorhead, MN, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Sanford on Broadway in Fargo, ND.
Marlene was born on November 12, 1935, to Dewey and Olga (Jacobson) Herfindahl. She was raised in Lake Park, MN, and graduated from Lake Park High School. On November 26, 1954, she married Orris Larson. The couple made their home in Lake Park before settling in Moorhead in 1957, where they built their home and began their family.
A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Marlene was deeply involved in her community. She was an active member of The Lutheran Church of Christ the King in Moorhead, where she joyfully sang in the church choir. Her love of music also led her to perform for many years in a Sweet Adelines quartet.
Marlene had a remarkable talent as a seamstress—creating beautiful quilts, sewing bridesmaids' dresses, and offering expert alterations for friends and family. She had a positive, upbeat attitude that touched everyone who knew her. She cherished her time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always placing family at the center of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Orris; her children, Belinda (Ronald) Kuntz, Bruce (Renee) Larson, Brad (Lauri) Larson, and Brian (Pamela) Larson; seven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and her brother, Harlan (Susan) Herfindahl.
She was preceded in death by her parents; great-grandson, Bentley Veralrud; brother, Duane Herfindahl; and her twin sister, Marlys Engebretson.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at The Lutheran Church of Christ the King in Moorhead, MN. Interment will follow at Lake Park Lutheran Cemetery, Lake Park, MN.
