Marlene Marie Olson

Marlene M Olson, 80, of Lake Park, MN, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, May 22. She was born in Breckenridge, MN, to parents John Bergquist and Maudie Oliphant on Dec. 27, 1945.

She met her future husband in Lake Park, MN, and later married Orvis Olson on June 16, 1969, at Cormorant Lutheran Church. Together, Orvis and Marlene lived and farmed with their 2 sons, Kyle and Chad, on their farm in rural Lake Park until moving to Lake Park in 2015. Marlene and Orvis were both school bus drivers for the Lake Park School District for many years, and Marlene was a member of the Lake Park Alert Team.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Maudie Oliphant (Foxhome, MN) and John Bergquist (Fergus Falls, MN), her husband Orvis, and her sisters Donna (Alfred) Hench of Fergus Falls, MN, and Sue (Paul) Joseph of Campbell, MN.

Marlene is survived by her 2 sons, Kyle (Pretzy) Olson of Lake Alfred, FL, and Chad (Amy) Olson of Fargo, ND. Grandchildren: Brittany (Nathaniel) Silva of Auburndale, FL, and Drew and Carly Sue Jordahl. Great-granddaughter Amara (Brittany/Nathaniel).
Brothers Norman (Cindy) Bergquist and Blaine (Nancy) Bergquist, along with several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service for Marlene will be held Monday, June 1, at 3 p.m. with visitation from 1 to 3 p.m. A committal for Orvis and Marlene will follow the service. Services will be held at Cormorant Lutheran Church, 14314 Co Hwy 4, Lake Park, MN 56554.
