Marlene DeAnn Zitzow

Marlene DeAnn Zitzow, 80, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Friday, September 26, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND.

Marlene was born October 6, 1944, in Pueblo, CO, to Martin James Moore III and Anna Lee (Harrison) Moore. She grew up in Pueblo and graduated from high school in 1962. She met Warren Zitzow, from Moorhead, MN, while he was in the Army and stationed at Fort Carson, CO. They fell in love and were married December 28, 1964, in Raton, New Mexico. Their first daughter, Kari, was born in 1966 in Colorado, and then the family moved to Moorhead in 1967. They were blessed with three more children, Kent, Kimm and Kami.

While living in Pueblo, Marlene worked as a secretary for TriPlex Corporation. After the children were born, she stayed home to care for them, and she also provided childcare for several neighbors. Later, she began working in the student loan department of NDSU, retiring at the age of 65 after 15 years of service.

Marlene was an avid bowler most of her life and still enjoyed bowling at the age of 80. She was active on bowling leagues at least 2 nights a week at Red River Lanes in Fargo and Sunset Lanes in Moorhead. She also enjoyed doing cross stitch and created many Christmas stockings for gifts over the years. She loved going to the lake and meeting up with friends from NDSU or bowling for coffee or lunch.

Marlene is survived by her husband, Warren, Moorhead; children, Kari (Michael) Olson, Fargo, Kent Zitzow, Fargo, Kimm (Marc Brecke) Tendeland, Fargo, Kami (Max Irish) Grad, West Fargo; brother, Martin IV (Cindy) Moore , Pueblo; grandchildren, Braydon, Brittany, Kirkland and Kailynn; special cousin, Jimmy (Kathy) Harrison, Pueblo, and her special dog, Ethel.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with visitation for one hour before the service, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. The service will be livestreamed here on Marlene's webpage.
