Marvin Leroy Stenberg was born August 4, 1928, in Robinson, ND to Minnie and Gust Stenberg. He passed away June 14, 2025, at Farmstead Care in Moorhead, MN. He spent his school years in Robinson, ND graduating in 1946. After graduation he joined the U.S Army Air Corps and was discharged in 1949.
He attended Jamestown College for one year while in the Air Force Reserves. He was called back to active duty in 1950 and decided to make a career of the military.
Marvin married Cora Helen (White) Stenberg on May 7, 1952, at Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, TX. They celebrated 70 years of marriage before her passing in June of 2022.
Marvin and Cora moved to Roswell, NM in August of 1952 and lived there until 1960 at which time Marvin was transferred to Oscoda, MI. He was transferred to Grand Forks AFB in 1965 and retired from the Air Force in 1968. They moved to Moorhead, MN at that time. Marvin worked at the Fargo Post Office for 22 years
Marvin was an avid sports fan. He survived being a MN Vikings fan for many years. He was thrilled to watch the MN Twins win the World Series in 1987 and 1991. He enjoyed golfing with many men's groups.
His love for music included singing with the Ambassadors and the Trinity choir. His grandchildren enjoyed singing "You are my Sunshine" and "Row Row Row your Boat" while he was living at Farmstead. His highlights were the music programs, sing-alongs, cards and bingo.
Marvin was especially proud of his Norwegian heritage and traveled to Norway to visit the Stenberg farm. Marvin and Cora were members of the Sons of Norway where they volunteered and enjoyed dancing.
Marvin leaves behind five children, Corinne Triviski, Marjorie Rendell, Michael (Barbara), Greg (Linda), and Jennifer (Joe) Beck; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law. He is preceded in death by his parents, son-in-law, Paul Triviski, brother Glen, and sister Helen.
Marvin's funeral service will take place on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church Moorhead MN with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow at Fargo National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to HIA Hospice or Trinity Lutheran church where they spent countless hours volunteering.
