Mason Jeffrey Reed

August 21, 1996 — October 19, 2023

Fargo, ND

On October 19, 2023, beloved son, nephew, cousin, and friend passed in his home in north Fargo at the age of 27 years old.

Mason was born August 21, 1996, in Fargo, North Dakota. He was adopted at birth to his parents, Lavina and Jeff Reed, of Fargo. We referred to his birth Mother as his Angel, Suzi. She wanted Mason to grow up in a loving family with lots of cousins and friends.

With his infectious smile, intelligence, and humorous personality, he made friends easily, loyal to those friends and always stuck up for the kids who may have been less fortunate and teased. Mason loved the family dogs in his life with special love for his puppy, Happy, who he named. He said, “Everyone needs to be Happy, so his name is going to be Happy”.

Mason attended Horace Mann Elementary School, Ben Franklin Middle School, North High, graduating in 2015 at Woodrow Wilson High School. Started in the Graphic Design technology at M|State in Moorhead, MN before pursuing other interests.

During his early school years Mason enjoyed Football, Baseball, and Skateboarding with his friends and classmates.

Mason was highly creative with his art and music enjoying great passion for music, and making beats. He wanted to pursue a career in graphic design. He dreamed of producing music and the music of others in the field.

He was very often complimented by neighbors, parents, teachers, and friends for being such a polite, kind, and respectful young man.

Mason so loved his Mother, that he often said how much he loved her as a Mother but also as his best friend cause she was so funny and made him laugh so much. Saying, “You so have my type sense of humor Mom”. With a smirk in his smile.

Severe Depression, ADHD, and Anxiety crept into his life at the age of 16 and he struggled with it till his passing.

The good Lord called him home and he answered, now in the loving hands of God who so loves him as we do.

We have donated Mason’s brain to research to pay it forward to all those suffering from mental illness. He will be loved and missed by so many who loved him.

Mason is survived by his parents, Lavina and Jeff Reed; grandmother, Connie Reed; aunts and uncles, Sheila De La Cruz, Mel (Kathy) Masseth, Germaine (Steve) Bratcher, Pete (Lynette) Masseth, Arleen (Mike) Cappelo, Kelly (Miriam) Masseth, Geneal Williams, David (Kathie) Reed, and Nancy (Jeff) Butz; numerous cousins; and many other loving friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John Reed, Pete Masseth, Elizabeth Weicks Masseth, and Rodney Weicks; and uncle, Max De La Cruz.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the First Lutheran Church, in the Celebration Center, Fargo, ND. A time for fellowship with family and friends will follow the service in the Great Hall.
