Mavis Larson, 88, of Hawley, MN, died January 8, 2021 at Sanford Health Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Mavis Lola Regina Christianson was born April 9, 1932 in Skree Township to Harry and Lillian (Engen) Christianson. She attended Hawley elementary school until 5th grade, followed by country school in District 61, rural Hawley, and graduated from Hawley High School in 1950. On June 28, 1952 she was united in marriage to Albert (Abbie) Larson. Mavis worked as a bank teller for State Bank of Hawley from 1968 until her retirement at the age of 75 in 2007. During her career she made many lasting friendships and enjoyed several trips through the Classic Club at the bank. Mavis enjoyed traveling and was fortunate enough to enjoy a special trip to Norway. She was a proud resident of Hawley and a dedicated member of Hegland Lutheran Church her entire life. Faith, family and friends were of great importance to her and she enjoyed visiting with people, shopping, and spending time in her home.
Mavis is survived by her children, Cheryl (Dan) Schwandt, Moorhead, Curt (Pam) Larson, Hawley, and Jim Larson, Hawley; brother, Ken (Marlys) Christianson, Detroit Lakes, MN; grandchildren, Benjamin Schwandt, Brooke (Chuck) Ames, Joshua (Rockie) Schwandt; and great-grandchildren Alex (Trista) Ames, Reid Ames and Jack Ames. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Abbie, and her infant daughter, Sandra Jo.
Visitation will be Monday, January 11, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley. The funeral will be Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., at Hegland Lutheran Church, rural Hawley. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
