Melroy "Mel" C. Clark

Melroy (Mel) Charles Clark of Fargo, ND, passed away Saturday, January 27th, 2024, in Chandler, AZ.

Mel was born on October 28th, 1939, to William and Nora (Germundson) Clark, in Stephen, MN, where he and his four siblings also grew up. Mel graduated from Stephen High School in 1957 and went into the Navy at age 18, serving active duty from October 1957 until August 1960. After his service, Mel attended college at UND in Grand Forks, ND, graduating with a degree in accounting. He began a lifelong career as a certified public accountant and eventual partner with the small firm of Eide, Helmeke, Boelz, and Pasch in Moorhead, MN. The firm eventually became Eide Helmeke before merging into what is now known as Eide Bailly.

Mel was united in marriage to Margaret L Chwialkowski on September 25, 1965, in Stephen, MN. He and Marge enjoyed raising their three children, traveling, spending time at their lake home at Big Cormorant Lake and winters in Arizona during their time together. Mel also enjoyed lifetime friendships with his college and work related buddies. They golfed, went on pheasant hunting trips, enjoyed ice and open water fishing excursions to various MN locations, and took trips to Las Vegas. Mel enjoyed an early retirement and kept active with his hobbies and travels in his retirement years. Up until last year, he and his friends continued to hold weekly "boys night" Tuesday meet-ups and Thursday trips to local casinos.

Mel will be remembered for his endearing qualities, his positive, friendly manner, his unique charm, and his ability to engage in friendly chats and random shout-outs with the waiter or the doctor or anyone who crossed his path. Anyone who knew Mel had something memorable or nice to say about him back: “one of a kind," "he was my favorite," "we just love Mel," "I will never forget him..." His children are left with fond memories of his kind, generous ways and ability to remain light-hearted always, along with his frequent expressions of several trademark lines. These memories will always bring warmth and a smile.

Mel is survived by his three children, Marielle Clark, Moorhead, MN, Mason Clark, Fargo, ND, and Marla (Peter) Tveten, Chandler, AZ; three grandchildren, Arianne (Luke Monson) Clark, Chloe Tveten, and Christian Tveten; two great-grandchildren, Anton Clark and Leiona Monson, three older siblings, Gary Clark, Seminole, Florida, Joyce Woinarowicz, Stephen, MN, and Audrey Neil, East Grand Forks, MN, and several special nieces and nephews.

Mel was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, his parents William and Nora, his youngest brother, Duane Clark, and a niece, Wendy Clark.

Celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 22, 2024, with visitation one hour prior, at Wright Funeral home, Moorhead, MN.

Burial will be in St. Stephen Catholic Cemetery, Stephen, MN, at a later date.
