Michael Shane Miller

Michael Shane Miller, 56, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away November 26, 2024, at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. 

Michael was born January 6, 1968, in Staunton, VA, to Donald and Lena (Varner) Miller. He graduated from Buffalo Gap High School in 1986 and worked for Perdue in Bridgewater, VA. He moved to Minnesota when he was 22 years old. Michael married Laura Lancaster in Detroit Lakes, MN, where they raised their three children. They would later divorce. Michael worked as a machinist for Team Industries in Audubon, MN for over 20 years. He could fix just about anything and in his spare time he enjoyed camping, doing electrical work and collecting various things. 

Michael is survived by his children, Evan (Hannah) Lancaster, Kaylee Miller and Chelsea Miller; his mother, Lena Miller, and his grandchildren, Jace Miller, Alexa Bergstrom and Ryse Miller. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Miller. 

“Anyone who knew my Dad knows he would have literally given the shirt off his back to anyone, no questions asked. He was so goofy, quirky and truly one of a kind. I feel like life kind of chewed him up and spit him out in a way, but he always did the best he could. I never thought I would have to say goodbye to him at 56 years old, but life isn't fair. He was struggling, he was hurting, he was lonely, but he's not anymore and I'm thankful for that.”-Chelsea

The family will hold private services at a later date.
