Myron George Hagene, 88, of Moorhead, MN, died December 5, 2023, at Sanford Health Medical Center in Fargo, ND.
Myron was born in Moorhead on July 26, 1935, to Erik and Venla (Snartland) Hagene. He grew up in rural Glyndon, was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church and remained an active member there his entire life. Myron graduated from Glyndon High School in 1954 and the following year he enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving 2 years. He returned home and farmed for about 5 years and then worked at the American Crystal Sugar beet plant, retiring after 30 years.
Family and church were extremely important to Myron. He loved listening to music, especially polka music, and dancing. He enjoyed visiting and having lunch at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead. Myron was also very civic minded; he kept a close eye on city council and county commission meetings, as well as state politics, and was very interested in what was happening in this community. In 2017 he was honored to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C., accompanied by his nephew, Gerald.
Myron is survived by his nieces and nephews: Cheryl (Rick) Ostlie, Keith (Kathy) Hanson, Neil (Polly) Hanson, Les Hanson, David (Teresa) Hagene and Gerald Hagene; sister-in-law, Delores Hagene, and numerous great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Valdemar Hagene; sister, Regina Hanson and brother-in-law, Norman Hanson.
