Nancy A. Monroe

Nancy Monroe, 83, of Moorhead, MN, died February 16, 2026 in her home. Nancy Arlene Gee was born on July 23, 1942, to George and Liela (Simonson) Gee in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 1960. Following high school, Nancy attended Dakota Business College for secretarial work. She then worked for Waterman's Department Store in Moorhead.

Nancy married Lee Monroe on August 19, 1961. They made their home in Moorhead, MN, until moving to Wyoming for 5 years. After Nancy's father passed away, they moved back to Moorhead and took over the family farm in 1968. Nancy worked at the Kragnes Inn for 7 years. She then moved on to working at the Northport Hornbacher's bakery and deli departments until retiring in 2010. She was also an avid accordion player.

Nancy enjoyed her retirement doing yard work, baking bars and cookies for Richard's Transportation, traveling, going to the lakes and being with family. 

Nancy is survived by her children, Jerry Monroe of Moorhead, MN, Peggy Monroe of Moorhead, MN, Susan (Bryan) Kellett of Mayville, ND; daughter-in-law, Coleen Monroe of Brooklyn Center, MN; grandchildren, Tony, Kayla, Hollyanne, Rylie, Tyla, Chris and Ian; great-grandchildren, Charlie, Ellie, Alex and Michael; as well as her special friend, Sonny Olson.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and son, Joe.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 26, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Funeral service will be Friday, February 27, at 11:00 AM, in First Congregational United Church of Christ, Fargo, ND.

Interment will be at Oak Mound Cemetery, Kragnes Township, MN.
