Obituary

Patricia Fossum, 92, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday July 16th in Sanford Hospice House Fargo, ND. A celebration of Pat's life and legacy will be held on Monday July 27th, 1pm at North Buffalo Lutheran Church in rural Moorhead MN, with a visitation starting at 12 pm.

Pat was born April 24, 1934, in Moorhead, MN, to Clarence and Ivy (Gee) Simonson. She was an only child and grew up on the family farm along the Red River, south of Georgetown, MN. Pat attended Oak Mound elementary school and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1952. During her school years, Pat was very active in 4-H, showing animals she had raised on the farm.

During high school, Pat met the love of her life, Lloyd Fossum, who had moved into the neighborhood with his parents to start farming. Lloyd and Pat were married on her 19th birthday, April 24, 1953. In 1954, Lloyd was drafted into the Army, and they moved to Fort Lewis, WA, for 2 years. After his army service, Lloyd and Pat returned to her childhood farm, built a house, and took over their parents' farms. Together, they worked the land growing crops, while lovingly raising their daughter and three sons.

While busy helping Lloyd farm and raise a family, Pat enjoyed working outdoors, whether growing vegetables in the garden or tending to the many vibrant, colorful flower beds around the house. Pat was also active in her church, teaching Sunday school, planning Christmas programs and participating in Ladies Aid. Pat also was in a bowling league for 25 years playing with friends at Sunset Lanes. For most of Pat's adult life, she was a dedicated member of the Oak Leaves Homemakers, always looking forward to their meetings and the trips they took together.

Pat and Lloyd traveled extensively throughout the U.S. using their timeshare units, alongside making multiple memorable trips to Hawaii and Europe. One of Pat's greatest joys was their cabin on Cotton Lake. Together Pat and Lloyd loved to fish, entertain guests and watch their children and grandchildren enjoy the lake and have fun. They even visited during the winter, enjoying every season the lake had to offer.

Pat was preceded in death by her Husband for 65 years Lloyd Fossum, son Larry Fossum, grandson Scott Fossum and grandson Cody Fossum.

Pat is survived by a daughter Diana (Dave) Hagens, Steele ND, son Paul (Sherri) Fossum, Moorhead, MN, and son Mark Fossum, Moorhead, MN. Grandchildren Jill (Mike) Kuhn, Jenni (Russel) Heaton, Mike (Heather) Hagens, Melissa (Jarred) Binder, Lindy (Tyler Anderson) Hagens, Heather (Shane) Fossum, Joshua (Elizabeth) Fossum, Nikki (Matt) Haugen, Matt (Erica) Fossum. Amy Fossum and many Great and Great-Great grandchildren.

Memorials should be made in her memory to Oak Mound Cemetery Association.
