Patricia D. Ulland

Patricia D. Ulland, 64, of Mahnomen, MN, died Sunday, May 16th, 2004 at Moorhead Healthcare Center, Moorhead, MN. Patricia Diane Ulland was born October 13th, 1939 in Rindal, MN to Palmer and Doryce Viker Ulland. Pat was raised near Fertile, MN where she graduated from Fertile High School in 1957. She trained to become an x-ray technician at Moline Public Hospital in Moline, IL. Pat then moved to Fort Collins, CO where she worked as an x-ray tech at the Student Health Center at Colorado State University. In the mid-sixties she went to Bangkok, Thailand as a volunteer where she taught and served as an x-ray tech. After a year in Thailand she became a VISTA Volunteer, training in Tempe, AZ and serving two years on the Cass Lake Indian Reservation. After leaving VISTA she moved to Baudette, MN where she worked at the Borderview Lodge for several years. Pat also became a Coast Guard certified fishing guide on Lake of the Woods. In the following years she ran restaurants in Galesburg, ND and Fertile, MN. In 1982 Pat moved to Mahnomen, MN where she worked as an x-ray tech and an EMT. Pat was an active member at First Lutheran Church in Mahnomen where she taught Bible School and Confirmation. She was also in the Foster Grandparent Program where she worked with elementary school children. For the last few years she made her home at Valley View Apartments in Mahnomen where she was very active with the residents. Pat was a very special person who had a giving heart and a love for life and people. We'll miss you Pesia. She was preceded in death by her parents Palmer and Doryce, her nephew Matthew Solie and several aunts, uncles and cousins.She is survived by one sister, Dar Jim Solie, Moorhead, MN; one niece, Brande Chris Korfe, Moorhead, MN; a "special daughter" Karla Fisher; Erica Davenport; three "grandchildren" Haven, Tori, and Eden.
