Patricia Hinze

Patricia Hinze, 83, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Friday, August 1, 2025, at The Linden-Eventide, Moorhead, MN.

Patricia (Pat) Ann (Brady) Hinze was born on September 22, 1941, in Jamestown, ND, to Harry E. and Violet J. (Krapu) Brady. Pat moved to Moorhead, MN, with her family when she was a young girl. Her first twelve years of education were at the Moorhead MN, public schools, graduating from high school in 1959. She received her teaching degree from Moorhead State College (MSUM) and began teaching third grade in White Bear Lake, MN, in 1963.

In 1964, Pat moved to Reno, Nevada, where she worked in the casinos. She also met and married Dennis Hinze in Nevada. Pat and Dennis had one son, Jason. Pat and Dennis were divorced in 1967, after which Pat and Jason moved back to Minnesota.

After moving back to Minnesota, Pat taught in the Anoka-Hennepin school district for two years before moving to Moorhead where she taught in several of the elementary schools. She was an excellent teacher, involving her students in numerous activities. She was also an active leader in the Moorhead Education Association. Pat took a one-year sabbatical leave in the mid-1980's. She received her Master's degree in education with an emphasis on computers at MSUM at that time.

In 1993, Pat and her partner, Howard Anderson, left the Moorhead Public Schools and spent ten years teaching in private international schools in the countries of Saudi Arabia, Ethiopia, Thailand and Mali. Pat also taught some education courses at Concordia College in Moorhead.

Traveling was one of Pat and Howard's favorite activities. They circled the globe four times, they visited all 50 US states, all seven continents, and more than 80 countries. In the later years, they often traveled on cruise ships, but in earlier years, they would just choose a destination and go. One of their journeys was a Trans-Siberian train trip from Beijing, China, to Moscow, Russia.

Pat was an art collector. She was also very involved with art organizations and activities.

Surviving Pat is her son, Jason; her partner, Howard, and his children: Troy Anderson, Heath (Ling-Hui) Anderson, Jared (Susan) Andersson, and Kristine Anderson.

Preceding Pat in death were her parents, and her brother James Brady.

A small family gathering will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery in Moorhead, MN, at a later date.
