Quentin L. Goehring

Quentin L. Goehring, age 73, of Moorhead, MN, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011, in Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND.Quentin Lamoure Goehring was born on September 18, 1937 to Reinhold and Helen Johnson Goehring in Underwood, ND. He grew up and attended school in Underwood, graduating from Underwood High School in 1955. On September 15, 1962 Quentin married Caryl Ayers in Washburn, ND. They had three children, Karl, Kim, and Kelly.Quentin served in the Army Reserves for 6 years reaching the rank of sergeant. Quentin and Caryl lived in Underwood where he worked at the Underwood Grain Elevator. In 1966, the family moved to Brandon, MN where Quentin managed the Land O' Lakes Fertilizer Plant. He was promoted to General Manager of the Brandon Ag Service Center in 1980. Quentin and Caryl moved to Toston MT in 1984, where Quentin worked as the General Manager of the Missouri River Grain Elevator. In 1986, Quentin and Caryl relocated to Ellendale, ND where they resided for 10 years. Quentin was the General Manager of the Farmers Coop Elevator in Ellendale. They moved to Fargo ND in 1995 and then to Moorhead MN in 1998. Quentin worked for the Chaffee-Lynchburg Elevator from 1995, semi retiring in 2008, fully retiring in the spring of 2010.Quentin was an avid fan of all sports, particularly enjoying the Vikings, Twins, all Bison/Sioux teams, and the ND Class B High School Basketball tournaments. He enjoyed a good game of cards, hunting, traveling, meeting new people and visiting old friends. He took great pride in his garden and lawn appearance. Quentin was a kind man, loved by his family and friends. He will be dearly missed. He left us all too quickly but that is how he would have wanted it – no fuss.He is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Caryl Goehring of Moorhead, MN; three children, Karl Julie Goehring of Moorhead, MN, Kim Dr. Susan Nelson Goehring of Moorhead, MN and Kelly Delene Goehring of Pelican Rapids, MN; three sisters, Luella Borrowes of Underwood, ND, Gladys Freidig of Bismarck, ND and Janice Blegen of Fridley, MN; nine grandchildren, Christine Brent, Tarah, Nick, Seth Alicia, Melissa Adam, Erin, Matthew, Jocelyn and Marcy; five great-grandchildren, Jakoby, Kolton, Audrey, Odessa and Charley as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda Goehring.
