It is with profound sadness and an immeasurable Joy, that we celebrate a life Well lived by Rachel Michelle (Torgerson) Steckling. She has been carried home to her eternal paradise and welcomed into the arms of her Lord, after her lifelong health and medical challenges. Our beautiful woman, fought until the very end, to do all she could to continue to make a difference and to be an example of kindness in this world. Rachel died peacefully, surrounded by her loving and devoted husband Eric Steckling, and other family members that have carried her through this life.

Matthew 25:21 "The lord said to her, Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, / will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.''

Rachel Michelle Torgerson was born on July 10t1991, to David Torgerson and Barb Mattis. She was a joyful, contented infant despite her diagnosis of Biliary Atresia at 6 weeks old, to which she required a liver transplant by age 9 months. Growing up, Rachel attended St. Joseph School in Moorhead and went on to graduate from Shanley High School in Fargo. Rachel earned a scholarship to Concordia College where she set out to achieve her bachelor's degree with a focus on accounting. Upon graduating from Concordia, with honors in 2013, she began her journey into the adult world of numbers, debits and credits, a goal she set for herself early on. Many companies valued Rachel's talents, focus and work ethic.

In April 2019, Rachel began dating Eric Steckling. As time passed and friends and activities filled their lives, Eric asked Rachel to be his wife, and on October 16m, 2021 the two were joined in marriage at St. Joseph Church in Moorhead. They made their home in Moorhead, and their 2 corgis, Lucy and Shelby brought her great enjoyment and warmth. Rachel's journey in life was best exemplified in her generous spirit; she was always ready with Christmas gifts, Easter baskets, birthday cards, and everything in between for those who were closest top her.

Her most recent employment was with the United Healthcare Children's Foundation, which provides financial aid to families of children with complex, medical issues, coming full circle to help children and families as once she needed help. In 2024 she became ill with cancer and chronic liver failure and stepped away from her work to undergo treatments and regain strength.

Throughout her elementary years, Family, Friends and community lifted her up in support of her ever-changing medical demands. She never allowed her health to dictate her goals and achievements, nor did she ever consider herself "different" because of her health. Her determination to do good things moved her forward in each day of her life.

Those continuing on in celebrating Rachel's life include her husband, Eric, parents Barb (Tim) Mattis and David (Kim Winger) Torgerson, brothers Kevin (Hannah) and family, Joanna, Nicolette and Josephine Torgerson. Michael (Carolyn) Torgerson and family, Florence, Irene and James Torgerson. Mother and Father-in-Law, Brian and Jean Steckling. Brother-in-law Joey (Trysta) Steckling and family Payton, Lexi and Ally Steckling. Her grandfather Francis Dufault, and too many aunts, uncles, and cousins to name here.

Welcoming her into heaven we pray are her grandparents Joann Dufault and Duane and Irene Torgerson, and uncles Mark Look and Kevin Dufault.

May Rachel's love for life, generous spirit and her deep faith, live on in our hearts and the hearts of all those who had the privilege of sharing her earthly journey.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 1-3 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 3 p.m at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Moorhead, MN.

Visitation will continue Monday, August 17, 2026, from 10-11 a.m. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Moorhead.

Burial will be in the church cemetery.
