Randy was born November 9, 1957, in Northwood, ND, to Robert and Dorothy (Svihla) Kottsick. After graduating from high school in Mandan, ND in 1976, he attended Valley City State University, on scholarships for football and baseball, where still to this day, he holds records in baseball. Randy majored in Art at VCSU, where he also met the love of his life, Debra Coughlin. They were married in 1980 and made their home in Mandan where they raised their family for many years before eventually moving to Grand Forks, ND. Over the years, Randy worked in sales for various companies, and for 18 years operated a State Farm Insurance Agency in Grand Forks.
In 2016, Randy and Deb started going to Arizona, where they purchased a home and made many lasting friendships. Randy thrived on being busy and having many projects going. He truly enjoyed working on projects around the house, such as building an addition on the back of the Arizona house. He was happiest when his hands and his mind were busy. He especially loved hunting and fishing with his sons, and spending time with his four grandchildren.
