Richard “Dick” Meland

Richard "Dick" Meland, 67, Hawley, MN, died on January 17, 2011, in the Veteran's Affairs Regional Medical Center, Fargo, ND.Dick was born on January 25, 1944, in Hawley, MN, to Thorvald and Minnie St. Clair Meland. He grew up and attended school there, graduating from Hawley High School in 1963. He moved to California and went to work as an electrician. Dick enlisted in the Army in 1968 and served three years in Viet Nam where he was a field communications specialist. Upon his discharge he returned to Los Angeles where he continued to work as an electrician until retiring. He moved to Hawley, MN, in 2010.Dick is survived by his brothers, Dennis Meland, Hawley, MN, Merle Betsy Meland, Fresno, CA, Walt Lily Meland, Orting, WA, John Meland, Renton, WA; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
