Richard N. Faus

Richard N. Faus, 79, of Moorhead, MN, formerly of Lake Park, MN, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023. Richard was born December 8, 1943, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Norman and Margaret Faus. He grew up on the family farm north of Lake Park and graduated from Lake Park High School. Richard continued his education at Moorhead State University before returning to the family farm to help his father. He married Sandra (Olson). They had three sons and later divorced. Richard was a lifetime farmer and a caretaker of the land up until his passing. Over the years, he also enjoyed getting together with family and friends. He loved playing basketball and softball, even playing on the softball field into his early ‘60s. Richard enjoyed reading, watching westerns, and was an avid supporter of the Twins and Vikings. He never missed a deer hunting opener at the hunting shack in Fourtown with his sons and close friends. Richard married Nancy (Emerson) in 2007 and together they made their home in Moorhead. They enjoyed traveling and spending their winters in Florida. Richard was a great teacher of farming and sports and remembered fondly for his patience. He will be missed.

Richard is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Doug (Lisa) of Laramie, Wyoming, Keith (Stephanie) of Lake Park, Minnesota, and late Gregg (Anissa) of Littleton, Colorado; Nancy’s son, Matt (Becca); 10 grandchildren; and his brother, Allan (Mary).

He was preceded in death by son, Gregg; parents, Norman and Margaret; sister, Diane Fitzpatrick and brother-in-law, Buck Fitzpatrick; and father-in-law Floyd Emerson.

Visitation will be Saturday, July 29, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
