Richard L. Pfeifer

January 31, 1982 — November 20, 2021

Richard Pfeifer, 39, beloved son, fiancé, brother, step-dad, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend drew his last breath on November 20, 2021, after a life well-lived. Mainly, we believe, to avoid having to watch the Vikings try to blow another big lead to the Packers. A loyal Vikings fan to the end, he died peacefully with his family by his side, knowing that the phrase “they’ll win a Super Bowl before I die” is us operating in delusion.

Richard believed himself to be the coolest guy in every room, and he usually was, but then sometimes he wore a fedora and we realized it was all just a farce. He was always the center of attention because of his sense of humor and story-telling. That is, until he started singing “The Bean Song” and then we all had to abandon ship. An avid fisherman, Richard enjoyed nothing more than catching “the big one”, which he sometimes did, although his description of the fish usually out-measured reality. Next summer when we spread his ashes at Lake Ashtabula, he’ll finally be able to look at all the fish he couldn’t catch (as so aptly stated by his nephew Charlie).

Richard spent his high school days in Watford City, ND, corrupting the youth of America, but eventually became a journeyman at Strata Corporation as an Electrical Supervisor. Throughout his years at Strata, he met many people that were like family members to him.

Richard leaves behind a loving family in his fiancé, Heidi Clark, her daughter McKenzie, his two dogs Rico and Sophie; his parents, Bob and Cindy; his sister, Mary (Kevin) Best; his brother, Jon Pfeifer; nieces and nephews, Nicole Pfeifer, Nathaniel Pfeifer, Lindsay Best, Charlie Best, and Luke Best; his grandparents, Francis and Rosella Pfeifer; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to name to be able to keep your attention through the rest of this. Richard was predeceased by his grandparents, Francis and Loretta Bergan and his cousins, Kyle Bergan and Michael Werner.

Richard was always the life of the party and will be deeply missed. We encourage you all to celebrate in his name and remember all of the good times he brought us. And also remember the time he pooped in his parent’s hotel room and turned up the heat, so the room smelled really bad when they got back. He could be a real s*** sometimes.
