Rita Lavonne Ludemann

Rita LaVonne (Krauth) Ludemann, 88, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, April 26, 2021, in Eventide Nursing Home, Moorhead, MN.

Rita was born on October 13, 1932, to Lambert and Marie (Doll) Krauth, in Dumont, MN. Her family moved to Barnesville, MN, where she met her future husband, Kenneth Ludemann. She graduated from Barnesville High School. Shortly after graduation, Rita rode a bus to Virginia where Ken was stationed, and they were married on June 21, 1952. She came back to Moorhead, MN, where she worked at a local bank. After her youngest child started attending school, Rita began working for Moorhead Schools as a secretary for the principal, a position she held for 29 years. In their retirement years, Rita and Ken moved to West Silent Lake and wintered in Arizona.

Rita loved to play golf and dance with Ken. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle and Whist with her group of friends from church known as ‘The Rowdy Bunch.’ She never missed a Spuds game and loved watching sports on television and in person. If she knew the grandkids were coming, she had a batch of chocolate chip cookies ready for them. Rita was a caring and giving women who was always looking out for others. She was very outgoing and could strike a conversation with anyone.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Muriel (Gary) Neu, Cindy (William) DeHaan, and Nancy (John) Eckl; grandchildren, Christopher Neu, Tyler (Anna) Neu, Derek (Rachel) Neu, Travis (Angie) Vandal, Brent (Ashley) Vandal, Nick Vandal, Andy (Kari) Vandal, Brianna (Mike) Galles, and Josh Eckl; step-grandchildren, Nathan DeHaan and Brittany DeHaan; great grandchildren, Bram, Niko, Madelyn, Natalie, Elli, Louie, and one on the way; siblings, Richard Krauth, Shirley Henry, Arlene Mulcahy, and Mary Jean Ernst; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Ken; parents, Lambert and Marie; and siblings, Muriel, Joan, Terry, and two infant siblings.

A private family funeral service will be held at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND, following the service.
