Robert A. Torkelson

Robert Allan Torkelson, 66, passed away April 23, 2021, at his home in a house fire in Hendrum, MN.

Robert leaves behind his wife, Anita Torkelson; brothers, Stuart Torkelson of Ada, MN and Bruce Torkelson (Debbie Linder) of Twin Valley, MN; three step children, Joe (Whitney) Mitchell of Helena, MT, Kay Sway of Moorhead, MN and Jeremiah ( Jenny Ray) Mitchell of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Archer, Monte, Tessa, Cora and Noah; nephews and nieces, Michael Torkelson, Amanda Torkelson, Christopher Hornbeak, Amanda Hornbeak and Daniel Hornbeak.

Robert was born on April 24, 1954 in Ada, MN to Alton and Rhoda Torkelson. Confirmed and Baptized at the Anthony Church.

Robert enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He enjoyed coming out to Pinehurst Resort and spending time with his brother Bruce and friends. He also enjoyed going to Devil’s Lake fishing with his son-in-law Derek Sway. And taking his granddaughter Tessa on fishing and camping trips. Robert and Anita enjoyed doing karaoke in his early years and WWF.

Robert worked on his uncle Floyd and Stella Hess farm in the Shelly, MN area. After working on the Hess farm Robert then started work at American Crystal Sugar in Hillsboro, ND where he worked until he retired.

Robert was preceded in death by his father Alton Torkelson, mother Rhoda Torkelson, and son-in-law Derek Sway.
