Robert Allen “Bob” Boelter

February 22, 1931 — December 27, 2022

Robert Allen “Bob” Boelter, 91, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Sanford Health Hospital, Fargo, ND.

Bob was born on February 22, 1931, to Ernest and Anna (Sannes) Boelter in St. Paul, MN. He grew up in Moorhead, MN and graduated from Moorhead High School. After graduation, he joined the Army and served his country overseas.  On January 20, 1952 he was united in marriage to Claudia Peterson in Comstock, MN. He began working for Dacotah Paper in Fargo, ND. The family moved to San Jose, CA where he worked for United Technologies for two years.  The family returned to Moorhead and Bob began his career as a letter carrier for the Moorhead Post Office for 28 years and retired in 1993. Bob and Claudia moved to Lake Lida where they enjoyed their summers and headed south to Texas in the winter.

Bob enjoyed fishing in his earlier years before finding his passion for golf. Bob enjoyed getting together with the “4 regulars” for their 8:30 tee time at Birchwood Golf Course and had honed his skill to score a Hole in One on #5!  Bob always “volunteered” to run to town to get whatever Claudia needed, but really it was just an excuse to sneak off to hit the driving range.  Claudia had his scheme figured out though and would immediately turn on the sprinkler system when he left.  No wonder why they always had beautiful grass at the lake.

If you couldn’t find Bob on the golf course, chances are he’d be in his favorite chair reading the newspaper, watching the latest sporting event, and cheering on the Vikings, Twins, and Moorhead Spud Hockey.  Once a Spud, always a Spud!

He loved sharing the lake with his kids and grandkids. He and Claudia especially loved softball and baseball and could be found at the ball diamonds in the area.  Bob and Claudia celebrated memorable 75th and 80th birthdays with 50 family and friends at a Twins game.  They were invited to join Bert Blyleven and Dick Bremer in the broadcast booth with two of their granddaughters, spending over an hour laughing and telling stories.

Bob is survived by his children, Bruce (Lois) Boelter, Lynn (David) Israelson, Mary (Dwight) Iverson, and Janet (Brent) McEvers; grandchildren, Matthew Boelter, Molly (Tanner) Knutson, Ryan (Paige) Babb, Lindsay (Chris) Paulson, Jordan Iverson, Joe Iverson, Melanie Most, Jake (Courtney) Most, and Grant Israelson; great-grandchildren, Abel, Chase, Griffin, Harper, and Aleah; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Claudia; daughter, Teri Most; grandchild, Laura Iverson and great-grandchild Mason FollansbeeDelong; parents, Ernest and Anna; and sister, Joanie Boelter.

Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Burial will be at Clara Cemetery, Comstock, MN, at a later date in the spring of 2023.
