Obituary

Robert Vernon Wiltsey (known as Bob) was born November 13, 1940, to Ruth and Ernie Wiltsey. He went to school in Devils Lake, ND. In high school, he sang in a quartet, was in play and played sports.

On January 8, 1966, he married Ione Berg at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. He worked at Scheels Hardware. They moved to Mayville, ND, where he attended college. He then transferred to Bemidji State University where he got his master’s degree in education. While attending Bemidji State, he had a chance to play semi-pro hockey but turned it down because of low pay. He began working in Bagley, MN, where he was a guidance counselor at the high school. He took pride in his work and enjoyed working with students. They even dedicated a yearbook to Bob because he really cared.

Bob and Ione later moved to Moorhead, MN. He ran “Youth Education Services” which was an alternative school for dropouts, and he continued there until he retired. Bob and Ione lived at Little Pelican Lake for 32 years, then sold and moved to Hawley, MN.

Bob especially enjoyed watching NDSU Bison football and of course the MN Vikings as well. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and had many stories to share about his adventures with his buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Thea, and brother Jay.
