Robert "Bob" G. Wood

Robert “Bob” G. Wood, 90, of West Fargo, ND (until recently Moorhead, MN) passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, under the care of Hospice, at Ecumen Recovery Center, Detroit Lakes, MN.

Robert was born on November 4, 1934, in Moorhead, MN to Ralph and Florence (Tollefson) Wood. He attended FM catholic schools through high school joining the North Dakota Air National Guard and then the US Air Force post high school. Bob served in Spain as an airplane mechanic while having a memorable career playing baseball in the U.S. Armed Forces European Leagues. Robert returned to the U.S. after his Air Force service taking on several sales positions around the country before working in the family business (Ralphs Corner) off and on in later years.

He enjoyed travel, a good game of golf or pinochle, holidays, along with time spent with family and friends at the lake home in Detroit Lakes.

Bob spent his later years residing in Pineview Cottages in Moorhead with his brother, Donald, before transitioning to memory care in West Fargo early 2024.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Florence, brother, Donald Wood (Rita), sister, Bonita Gust (Donald) and brother-in-law, Robert Leck.

Bob is survived by his sister, Shirley Leck of Lompoc, California; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews around the world; good friends, Dub and Jan Broderick (& Family); David (Doc) Wentz; the Maris family; and many cherished lifetime friends.

Memorials preferred to HIA Hospice of Detroit Lakes, MN and the American Legion, Moorhead Post 21, Honor Guard.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. with a visitation 1 hour before the service, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, with a celebration of life afterwards at Vics Lounge in Moorhead.

Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery (North) Fargo, ND.
