Robert "Bob" Dean Roesler, 87, of Fargo, ND, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 6, 2024. Born in Leonard, ND, on April 1, 1937, to Del and Ada (Anderson) Roesler, Bob was raised on the family farm and graduated from Leonard High School. He pursued further education at North Dakota State University with the intention of continuing farming. Yet, Bob chose to embark on a different journey.
In 1960, Bob met Carolyn Nelson, They married on October 22, 1961, and made their home in Mahnomen, where Carolyn was a music teacher then moved when Bob became an assistant manager at Lynchburg Elevator near Chaffee. Carolyn then took a teaching position at Dakota Business College in Fargo, where Bob joined her after a career change prompted by a back injury. This led to three back surgeries, after which Bob earned a business degree from Dakota Business College, teaching penmanship and bookkeeping.
Bob's career eventually led him to Farmers Insurance Group, where he served as an agent for 42 years before his son, Steve, took over the agency. An enthusiastic supporter of NDSU sports and a devout MN Twins fan, Bob rarely missed a game, whether attending Steve’s high school games or NDSU’s national championships. His community spirit extended to coaching and cheering on his children and grandchildren in all their endeavors, always from the best seat in the house—right by the field or court.
Bob's greatest pride and joy were his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His legacy includes his loving wife, Carolyn; daughters, Sheryl Asleson (Rich) and Rochelle Roesler (Brian Fuder); son, Steve Roesler (Saree Janz); grandchildren, Ted Finton (Sarah), Sam Finton (Ashley), Barbie Finton, Melissa Madole (Josh), Sarah Fuder, Adam Asleson (Brandi), Emily Asleson, Breahn Reveling, Jacob Fuder, Nathan Fuder, and Bryce Reveling; great-grandchildren, Bella Ryan, Alex Ryan, Oaklyn Finton, Henry Asleson, Evelynn Fuder, Elijah Asleson, and Ellis Asleson; with another great-grandchild expected in July.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Del and Ada Roesler; siblings, Wayne Roesler and LaVonne Schossow; infant sisters Ada and Ruth; and brothers-in-law Wayne Schossow and Jim Jones.
Bob's enduring enthusiasm, generosity, and love enriched every life he touched. Join us in celebrating Bob’s remarkable journey through life at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 9, from 5-7 pm with a service immediately following. His funeral will be held on Friday, May 10, at 11 am. Both events will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend in person. The livestream of the prayer service will begin at 6:40 P.M., starting with prelude music performed by family friend, Jens Andersen. Bob's life was beautifully lived, and beautifully shared. Come share stories, laughter, and tears, as we bid farewell to a truly remarkable husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa, honoring a man who truly made the most of every moment.
